GoDaddy has different configurations. Why these exist or what you do about them we've never been able to quite figure out. We do have a GoDaddy test account and do try to make sure that Sandvox works with GoDaddy, but they have in the past provisioned different user accounts differently and don't really give you any kind of indication or choice about how your account will be setup. It is for this reason that we tend to recommend service providers other than GoDaddy.

We do have some information about GoDaddy in Sandvox Help that may be of use.

Hi, and hope you have good luck right away.

I have several websites hosted with GoDaddy, built and published with Sandvox for more than 2 years.
If things go dark after they have been working perhaps wait a day for problems there to be solved. Usually faster.

You will probably want to have some FTP program like FileZilla just to poke around in the hosted files, delete some, copy some - etc. Change that welcome.html to xwelcome.html so it is still there for you if you need it in future.

Regards,

JolJol2

Sorry you couldn't publish following the directions above. I don't have any other suggestions for you because those directions worked for me. If you call their tech support perhaps they can help and Ypu can edit my directions above if I made an error in order to help others?

Note in my directions I couldn't verify whether one has to delete the welcome.html file from the Go Daddy server first before publishing. That is what the help file from Karelia forum advises.

Hello,
I am considering switching my web host to Go Daddy, but I would appreciate knowing other users experience with having them serve as my web host for two websites. I'd appreciate your assistance with answering the following questions:

1. I am using Sandvox 2.5.3. Should I ask them for the Linux server option?

2. What are the Sandvox publishing settings to publish my Sandvox website to Go Daddy?

3. For those publishing to Go Daddy with Sandvox are you pleased with their service?

4. Is the following advisory from Karelia about publishing to Sandvox still true?

"GoDaddy.com

Host URL
http://www.godaddy.com
Possible Issue
New accounts contain a welcome.html file. You must manually access your account via FTP and remove the file before anything published with Sandvox will appear online.
We have had reports that asking GoDaddy to switch you from Windows-based hosting to Linux-based hosting clears up many problems. GoDaddy's Windows-based hosting does not support SFTP. SFTP is supported by GoDaddy with their Linux-based servers but is not set up by default and not recommended. If you are have problems uploading your site to GoDaddy, we recommend asking to be switched to Linux-based hosting and using FTP to connect. (You might also consider encouraging them to properly support SFTP across their products in the future.)
The document root might be public_html, /, or blank, depending on which server configuration you are using with GoDaddy.

Thank you!
