Re: Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

A restriction on new members of the forum posting links was recently introduced. This is an attempt to reduce the amount of spam postings.

See http://www.karelia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2208 for more information, including:

New registrations starting today, however, will start off as New Members. New Members will not be allowed to post links, either in the body of the message or the signature. This will hopefully cut down quite a bit on link spam. After you've been with us for a bit and posted a few times, New Members will automatically be promoted to Members.

Re: Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

I just finished a complete makeover of our website.   www.centralunionchurch.org

We get constant comments on the look and other website designers can't believe that our website was created with Sandvox - they always think we spent far more $$$.

Sandvox isn't perfect (e.g., I would love to see better forms reporting...) however, if you can work within its framework, it's very good.

Aloha,

Kerry

I just published my site strongpointtheinert.com

I am open to constructive criticism. Learned a lot just reading through the forum. Thanks everyone.

Can someone help me out as to why my header is cut off on an iPad? iPad2 on safari to be exact. Noticed it while testing

Re: Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

Hi rohdawg--first, very nice site and a wonderful cause.

A couple of things that I noticed related to some of your links. Related to the picture of 1LT Joseph J. Theinert on the upper left of the home page under the banner--when you place your cursor on it, it appears to be a link to another page. However, if you click on it, you are not taken to a page that I think you intended. (The "IANA"--Internet Assigned Numbers Authority.) I'm not sure if you intended to link to another site or page, or if you just need to turn off the linking in the object inspector.

Also, about halfway down the page, you have in a red font "The Joseph J. Theinert Memorial Foundation Vision"--and this is underlined. It might just be my own personal preference, but when I see something online that is underlined, I assume it's linked to another site or page, and try to click on it. Assuming you didn't intend to link that line, my preference would be to remove the underline--maybe use "bold" instead. If you did intend it to link that line of text somewhere--the link isn't working.

Hi Rob,

Thanks for the heads-up! Fixed both of those issues and I appreciate the look-see!
You did exactly what I needed somebody to do, look at it with "fresh eyes"

My pleasure! (Actually, it was nice to focus on somebody else's site for a bit and give my tired eyes a break.) Rohdawg, if I wanted to contact you, does the "contact me" page go to your email?

Beautiful, and I don't just mean the simplicity of the site design. Wonderful paintings.

Yep! Not sure if it "cool" or not, but I am working on a site to promote and share my artwork. It is a site in progress and there is a lot more to add yet. I like using Sandvox though, it is just the program I was looking for since I have no idea about HTML! If you are interested, have a look here: johnsemmens.com

Would like some feedback on my initial design.

Got very good feedback so far and sorted some simple issues and I am aware of the wee mistake on the achievements page

I just launched my guitar lessons site.  It took some time.  Unfortunately there's a lot of content you can't see.  Most of the content is password protected.  But hopefully there's enough there to be tantalizing and to pique interest.

Very nice site Henry.

If I was wanting to study guitar/jazzguitar, i would certainly check your site out.

Best wishes.

I'll share. I am a clergyman & made web sites for my part time pulpits with iweb. I coded my own HTML/CSS home site by hand. I was intrigued with the Sandvox photo album page & wondered if I could "gang" them. My results can be viewed at www.kkopy.net/rbkopelman/photos/ Please critique, by all means.

Finally pretty much finished my new site to display my photos except for some minor tweaks. It was finally much easier to build than my school sites since it uses only one theme. I’ll probably play around with it and try to integrate some more advanced things into it but for the moment it is pretty much functional. Constructive criticism would be welcome. http://www.denis-fortin.ca/

Re: Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

It's been a while since I started using Sandvox so I thought it was time to reveal some of what I've done. Here's my first site - my "conscience" site - published in 2009.
http://www.sustainablespace.info
This will only be of interest to South Australians as it is targeted to my home state. It became my "practice" site where I learned a lot about using Sandvox. It gave me a good grounding to proceed on to a more complex site.

Here's a home business site I created this year ... http://www.NewTimesHomeBiz.com   This was a lot more challenging as I had to learn to add an Aweber opt-in form, add a shop, include an e-commerce platform that had an inbuilt affiliate program and membership module, create and insert my own images and graphics, create a landing page and thankyou page (both of these pages had to be concealed and only available to subscribers). There was a lot to sort out. I used Blueball Cubicle because of it's attractive layout.

Here's my sales page I created recently for an eBook I wrote. http://www.writetoprosper.com

Compared with the Wordpress platform, which allows the creation of all types of pages (e.g. squeeze, landing, sales, thankyou, subscriber pages), I've stretched the boundaries of Sandvox to see if all these types of pages could be created. And they can. You just need to know how to switch various components on or off.

I'm thinking of creating a handbook/video detailing all this if there's sufficient interest, so any feedback would be welcome.

Any other comments on my sites would be also welcome.

The best to everyone

Very nice and neat-looking websites, Des! I think creating a handbook/video for your tips would be very helpful to users here, especially for those new to Sandvox.

Re: Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

Just a quick amendment to my post. I used Blueball Gravitas Business for my design, not Blueball Cubicle. My apologies.

Blueball Gravitas gave me just the colors I was seeking. It's a nice design.

Thanks eljon for your comment. Given some time, I'll work on the handbook/video project.

Does anyone know how many subscribers there are in this forum?

Thanks

I am using the BlueBall Design Gravity (love it and are hoping I will see more features if the decide to upgrade that themes).

Before I hade the site in iWeb (it looked messy and was a total failure in a SEO-perspective). I have to say iWeb is more or less useless if you want to be found with google/bing and such.
In sweden the site was always 100+ when searching for the word Feedback in Google.

After I changed to SEO-friendly Sandvox and some tweeking/help, I am on first page (#6) when you search for Feedback in sweden.

So thank you guys at Karelia, you have done a great job!

I don't know how you got the links beyond the censors !  LOL

Like your site

easy to read

but I would like to open in a new window so I can rotate my browser windows to the pages as I look at them.

Posting of hotlink URLs is not permitted for New Members in a successful attempt to reduce the amount of spamming. I have no idea how many posts you must make before you can insert hotlinks, but it won't be too many.
