Have you ever wanted to display your product catalog , user guides or event brochure easily? Then realised you had to convert it to a HTML format!! , lose all the formatting you wanted then wasted the time to launch your site because of this.

ViewDoc Plugin is here to help you do just that , and get your documents visible and shared easily in your web page without any fuss.

Based on the powerful Google Docs Viewer engine , ViewDoc Plugin for Sandvox allows you to simply add links to the following document formats that you have located (anywhere on the web)

- Microsoft Excel (.xls, .xlsx)
- Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx)
- Apple Pages (.pages)
- Adobe PDF (.pdf)

- Autodesk AutoCad (.dxf)
- Scalable Vector Graphics (.svg)
- PostScript (.eps, .ps)
- TIFF Images (.tif, .tiff)
- TrueType (.ttf)

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Hi,

do you have a link of a website that uses this plugin? ( or anyone of your plugin's)

I think that's what people on this board would like to see.

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

:) If our site is not proof enough of these plugins in action , then I am sure someone else can show a hand here or even the Sandvox team :D

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Hi,
trying to use a .doc with the viewDoc plugin from https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=******* … z&hl=en_US, I only get the message in the empty grey area: This document extension is currently not supported. What am I doing wrong?

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

We need the actual extension to be .doc or .docx if you are using Word
Google Docs modifies your file already.
Send us an email offline to via our contact page with the link to the actual Google docs reference file to verify this

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

I seem to be having difficulty with ViewDoc and TabBuilder working together.  However, what's weird is the combination has worked on my site in one area, but won't in another.  When I click on the Tab, the tab's area is empty... no content whatsoever.  However, if I load the page that is defined by the Tab, the ViewDoc behaves as expected... very weird.

Here's a couple of links to help visualize what I'm talking about:

The ViewDoc that's not behaving... It's the Student Handbook Tab.

http://www.fortbenton.k12.mt.us/students/

The page while not viewed within a Tab:

http://www.fortbenton.k12.mt.us/student … dbook.html

Location where ViewDoc and TabBuilder behave as I'd like... the Application Tab is the tab with the ViewDoc:

http://www.fortbenton.k12.mt.us/employment/

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Did you disable the Index option in the Student Handbook page , all indexes need to be on. Otherwise like all Titles and Summary page types we will pick up nothing .

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

I have not been able to get this plugin to work for me.

I think it may possibly be where I'm adding the file to link to but I don't know.  I have uploaded the file to a folder on my hosting site, a folder that allows public access, then type in the full URL to the file but no matter what type of file I try this with I get this error:

Sorry, we are unable to retrieve the document for viewing or you don't have permission to view the document.

Where do I even begin troubleshooting this? - JamesJM

I got around this by uploading the file to Dropbox… but I don't consider this a fix.  I have the free Dropbox and with A2 Hosting I have unlimited space… in the future I'll need the space on A2 or be forced to buy more space on Dropbox.

By the way, I tried iDisk and it didn't work.  Not a big deal since iDisk is history next year.

I hope someone can provide some leads to troubleshooting this because I've run out of ideas. - JamesJM

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Will you run out of 2GB of space that quickly  on DropBox ?

Anyways with a link to the actual file you are trying to reference then I am in the dark about this . If you want to keep it free from public view then open a support request via the sandvoxplugins.com web page

However, to troubleshoot ,
- Open the link to the media file in your browser
- Does it prompt to download or start downloading , yes then that is a good sign
- If it does not then check the url remember no public_html or ftp it has to be http and and with one of the accepted file extensions that are allowed by ViewDoc
otherwise send more details via a support request :)

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Thanks for the suggestions… I'll give it a try.  I tried taking the documents I'm testing out of the public_html folder and putting them in the root but still had no luck.  And yes, All the documents I'm testing are compatible.

As for Dropbox… yeah, I'll fill it up quickly.  Have a big family, share a lot of video for editing, and 2gb doesn't go very far. - JamesJM

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

I'm having these exact same issues. I can get a doc stored on dropbox to work but not one stored on my host provider. I've sent a request to Kevin at SV plugins, haven't heard back yet.

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Is there any way to integrate a FOLDER that sits on Google Docs or Dropbox into a Sandvox site?

I have a folder with about 400 files on it (PDFs and DOCs).  I want site visitors to be able to "look" in the folder and download files they want.

Is this possible?????

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Chuck : you have an update

Sharing a complete folder , there a number of ways to do this on your web server. Check with your hosting provider .

DropBox sharing multiple files: I don't think this is possible they give you the ability to share single files in your public folder

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

If you are having trouble getting this plugin to work try this simple solution.  Start by going to Google and be sure you are logged out of your google account. Then follow all the SV Plugins guys directions for publishing with the plugin.  This solved my problem with this plugin.  I will now put a warning on any page I create using this plugin to be sure the user is logged out of their google account if they do not see the document being displayed in the plugin on the page.

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Good evening,
Any idea why this pdf using a svplugin is looking so pixelated?  Using 2.2.B4 and SV VIEWDOC.
I have used it before with out any problems and uploaded 2 versions of the PDF with the same results.
Thanks

Here it is on the website and as a link to download.

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Strangely, the original looks pixelated in Google Docs, if you follow the link all the way through.

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

But if it looks like that in Google Docs, I'm not sure how the Sandvox plug-in could be responsible. Can you isolate the document, hosted on Google Docs, outside of Sandvox?

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

Terrence,
I replaced the catering menu in the long format with the wide one and it looks fine.
The long one was made from the wide version by the same guy that made the original....
Yesterday I also opened the long version in adobe acrobat pro and re-saved it, uploaded it and it still had the pixelated look.??

Re: ViewDoc Plugin

I don't know. I'm honestly not familiar with how the plugin works. It sounds, however, like the problem is either with the PDF or Google Docs ability to display it.
