Hello Everyone,
We all love Sandvox and are very excited about its future. However, there really needs to be a larger market for plugins to extend the capabilities of what the app can accomplish.
I would like to begin compiling a list of NEEDED plugins, feel free to +1 them or add your own to the list.
Needed Sandvox Plugins
- Ability to add "tags" and "Categories" to blog posts. This would be best done if Karelia would build it into the Blog page itself.
- "Header Plugin" ... Currently Sandvox allows you to add a custom header in designs that support it but that one header is then used throughout the site. It would be nice if there were a plugin that would allow you to use a different header on a per page basis.
- CMS Plugin (There may already be something like this that I don't know about) but CMS would just be awesome
- Wordpress plugin ... ala the Wordpress plugin for RapidWeaver
I would love to build a couple of these but unfortunately the plugin API escapes me. I would however love to work with or hire someone competent in Objective-C and or Cocoa to help make some of these come to fruition.

Thanks very much for the list! A few comments:

We definitely have all the pieces available to do such a thing in the current APIs.

Plug-ins are strictly limited to generating HTML as objects. Such an idea is not possible right now.

The SVPlugin chaps have a Tumblr plug-in at present. I'm not too sure how it works, but it's probably generating an iframe or similar that loads the blog within a sandvox page. I think such uses are particularly hard to make work well.

Ok I am sooo frustrated with Sandvox and trying to insert a Facebook plug-in for a Like Box (the one where you can see the posts and picts). I tried copying the HTML5 code, Javascript etc and NOTHING works. PLEASE HELP! Is Sandvox just not set up for this type of plug in and will only allow the little logo with number icon?? I have tried everything. Thank you.

Well, I don't get much support for my idea… I've posted this before, BUT… 'tables' would be WONDERFUL for me, especially tables with scaling and the ability to embed different objects in cells. I think in RapidWeaver it's an add-on referred to as 'Stacks'.. I may be wrong about that. I don't use RapidWeaver.
As it is, I have to create my 'tables' using iWeb and then cut and paste them into Sandvox, which WORKS… praise be, but a bit annoying because of the 'time' it takes. - JamesJM

I VOTE FOR TABLES AS JAMES WROTE.
Variable width, fixed width, easy way of filling tables out.
How about columns that we can add stuff to, like the sidebar but 2, 3 or maybe even 4 columns.

Columns can be achieved without having to use tables, but you need to use some CSS and HTML. See this post for my solution.
It says "Avenger," but I am just a Sandvox user who has been assigned the title of Avenger here in order to be able to delete spam messages. http://davidneale.eu/

That is fine if you know both or even one of them.

:) Yes, I know what you mean. I wish, at times, I had knowledge of all that stuff… and I've even somewhat tried to learn. But in the end, I ain't a'gonna. I have more pressing needs, like mud fights with my grandsons. I want my 'website' duties simple and at a minimum. :) - JamesJM

I think you will get more help by posting this as it's own thread with a title like "help with a Facebook Like Box needed".

I used the HTML insert code that I got from google, in a side bar with only a few hassles.

I should say that we are looking at implementing table functionality at some point, but it is a tricky thing to get right. The same goes for columns.

Mike That would be great!

As a (very) soon to be massage therapist, an appointment booking plugin/calendar plugin would be AMAZING!

Nomad, you could use a google calendar, if that is what you are looking for. Click for an example.

If that is what you are looking for. I am sure there are many other solutions too.
Some free like google's and some will have a fee.

Ooh--I know that one! For some reasons the neurons fired and the memory kicked in.
Check out this recent announcement. I wonder how close you are to Super Hero status??

I need something that I can list dates and times for available appointments, have people create a profile, and then allow them to schedule (privately) online. I know there's software I can get for this, but I'd love a Sandvox plugin instead (I'm sure some bed and breakfasts could use something similar as well).

I also want a plug-in for tables. Please.

Use tables only for tabular data. They are not a layout tool. See how to use tables with Sandvox at http://davidneale.eu/sandvox/tables/index.html

I don't know if this would be a plug-in, but it would be great if there was an option for a pop-up chat that worked on one of the familiar chat programs. I know you can add a button to indicate your chat status, but it is dependant on the user having the required chat client and an account I think if someone visits your site it is often the case that professional websites want a chat option to communicate with visiting customers through the website itself. Is this possible?
Thanks

Hi Jeremy, it's certainly possible for someone to implement that as a plug-in.

Sounds great. It could also be one of the objects, could it not?
