How do I create a "drop down" menu item, that has links to photo pages

Ok, I admit it I'm completely stumped.  Is there a way in Sandvox to create a "Menu" item on the menu bar that will give me a drop down list of links to pages of photo albums ?

I have a bunch of photo albums hosted on the same site I will host this Sandvox site, if i can get it to work, that I want to call "Photos" when the user clicks on photos I'd like to see a drop down list of working links to these other photo sites.

I can not figure out how to create this, I'm not a HTML coder so I do not want to write this, I'd like to be able to create it.  I don't like the way Sandvox  displays photo albums and I already have these albums built.

I envision that the "Nav bar" across the site hopefully would look something like below...

It would look something like              About      Home          Photos    Movies      Page N       Page N+1
                                                                                    ------
                                                                                   Block Island      ----> link to an external site of an album of pics
                                                                                   Honeymoon       ----> link to an external site of an album of pics
                                                                                   Sailing              ----> link to an external site of an album of pics
                                                                                   Fourth of July     ----> link to an external site of an album of pics

I would be eternally grateful if someone could show me an EASY way to set this up and also to be able to add to it easily each time I put up a new site.  Any suggestions ?

TIA,
Peter

One way to do what I believe you want to do is as follows:

1. Create a new page in Sandvox (text will do); (It might be an idea to give it the name you want straight away, as there seems to be a bug in Sandvox: name it straight away and you'll get a triangle after the name to indicate sub-items, wait and the triangle doesn't show.)

2. In you browser, go to the page of a photo album you wish to reference;

3. Back in Sandvox create an External Link type page in the navigation column; once created, drag it over the page you created in step 1 and drop it, making it subordinate to that page;

4. In your browser, go to another page of a photo album you wish to reference;

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 as required.

You can change the names of the links and the main page in the navigation column; these changes will be reflected in your tab and sub-menu items.

It says "Avenger," but I am just a Sandvox user who has been assigned the title of Avenger here in order to be able to delete spam messages. http://davidneale.eu/

macdafydd,

Thanks for the reply. What you've suggested sort of works but it's not what I ultimately want. I get a drop down menu but the menu items are the Sites name that is in the browser. That much I COULD live with but I'd much prefer that I control the text in the drop dow

What I'd really like is to the user not to see the site's "given name" but to be able to supply my own name.   It' kind of spooky that Sandvox picks up whatever link is in the browser.  Seems like that could get you int trouble
I'd like for the user to see something like "Photo's of Honeymoon" or see text. I can't get the "Inspector" to go anywhere near the list as it just doesn't seem to know how to deal with it.

I appreciate the try but it's not quite what I'm looking for.

Thank you for the reply though, it's a start.

Cheers,
Peter

As I wrote, you can change the names of the links and the main page in the navigation column.

All you have to do is to select the name that currently appears (the site name) and type over it: simple text editing.

Drag-and-Drop simplicity.

1) Have the web page you want to "link to" open in your browser.

2) Drag the URL icon from browser toolbar over to Sandvox Site Outline & drop it where you want it. (creates an external URL page)

3) Select the newly created page, go to "Page" inspector & turn on "Menu as" (rename if appropriate)

The drop-down menus now have a link directly to the external page.

Re: How do I create a "drop down" menu item, that has links to photo pages

I have just created a test web site using Sandvox - www dot buexecution dot com slash test.
I'd like to create a drop down menu to look like this
Home          Certification                      Suresh's Blog       Contact Us
                  BU Manager I Certification
                  BU Manager II Certification
                  BU Manager III Certification

Could you please suggest how to do this? When I tried what is written above, I could not see the sub menus - though pages are subordinate on the left window.
Also, if you have other design suggestions, I'd much welcome them.
Thanks.

The design you're using, unfortunately, does not work with pop-up submenus. You may try other similar designs that support that feature.

Thanks for your reply. Could you please suggest some samples which have this feature?
I was looking at this Sandvox site energie-fuer-dummies dot de - it has the submenus.

Actually, only Expansion (the design you're using) and Trippy Bubbles are the only two stock designs that do not support the pop-up submenu feature. So you can choose any other design and what you're looking for should work. Just make sure that the page that you want to show as a submenu is nested:
