Widening Slate Manifest

I understand that you have posted the method for widening your designs. But the entire reason that I use Sandvox is because I don't want to learn how to get into code.  Furthermore, what would take you 20 minutes would take me a couple of days, and then there is no guarantee I'd get it right. So my question is this:

What would I have to do to get you to widen the "Slate Manifest" design from its current 730 pixels wide to 960-1024 pixels? Whatever it is, I'll do it.

Re: Widening Slate Manifest

It's not something we at Karelia can take on right now, but maybe there are other CSS-savvy people here that would be interested in taking it on.  We specifically licensed the CSS portions of the designs under the Creative Commons license, which makes it easy for anybody to base a new design off of an existing design.

Re: Widening Slate Manifest

Thanks, Dan,

I love Sandox and really appreciate all the great work that you've done so I don't mean this to sound sarcastic in the slightest, but "that's easy for you to say." I actually attempted it and ended up swearing. If it's so easy, who don't you offer it in both sizes?

For one of my clients, I have tracked over 2.5 million visits to their website and found that less than .001 percent view it with anything smaller than a 1024 pixels wide browser window. You might consider offering more designs in the wider format.

Thanks again for all of your great work.

RX7RACE,

I don't know if this will work but it certainly looks promising. I appreciate your quick response and I'll get it a try.

Re: Widening Slate Manifest

Commodore,

I apologize for the misunderstanding. It's not an easy change; if it were we would have already implemented it.  I was trying to say that from a *legal* standpoint, we have removed barriers to adapting a design to suit your needs.  There is still the technical issue.

For the technical side, we have provided the Quickly modifying existing designs documentation page.

We have some long-term ideas about offering a lot more flexibility in the widths of designs, but that's not something we can quickly slap together.  So that's why I suggested that there may be somebody in the community who would be interested in helping out with your project.

Re: Widening Slate Manifest

Dan,

Thanks for the response. You guys are doing great things and I don't want my comments to come across as acrimonious. I'm just craving for more space to put more menus on that particular design.
