It occurred to me that I could solve a lot of my layout problems in Sandvox using tables. There's even a page on this site...
http://www.karelia.com/sandvox/help/z/U … oints.html
... that includes a link to a table maker at the bottom. Problem is, it generates HTML that returns many errors when you try to validate. And so I've been off on the wild goose chase through the CSS and HTML jungle that I always dreaded when thinking of leaving iWeb. Can anyone tell me if there's an easy way to make HTML5 CSS3-compliant tables?

I did a quick Google search and found this, http://www.htmlportal.net/table-generator/
Both are pretty basic and the errors are pretty minor errors, nothing that would effect anything.

I would not worry to much about validation. If it looks good in Sandvox and/or on your website, you're probably fine. Most all browsers are fairly forgiving about differences in HTML.
Tables are certainly on our list for a future update, but I cannot yet promise when.

Built-in tables would be excellent... consider this a strong vote of encouragement for an update soon, rather than later. I appreciate the fact that by not using fixed dimensions, Sandvox avoids a lot of the screwed-up layouts iWeb could have in various browsers. The downside is a big reduction in layout flexibility. Tables solve nearly all of this.

That very well could be. Tables really fell out of favor a few years ago as a layout tool, but perhaps they are making a comeback.

I can't speak for why they fell out of favor, but if you want to put things in a particular place on a page other than left-center-right, I don't know a better way to do it.

One more vote for adding tables support with some type of WYSIWYG tool.

One more vote! I used to copy a table from pages into sandbox - since 2.1 it doesn't work anymore. Sadly...

I just bought Sandvox for my mum who does not know HTML. She wants to enter simple tabular data but fails to do so as it requires knowledge of HTML. Alas, this is a showstopper since text boxes cannot be aligned next to each other. Are there plans for a basic UI wizard or table assistant? Or at least allow for horizontal alignment of text boxes?
I will have to make use of the 60-day money back option if neither of these features are part of the near-term milestones.
