Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

As requested by a forum member, I think it would be great to see what sites people have been creating with Sandvox 2. I'll start: Karelia Software

Yes, it's an "upgrade" originally built with Sandvox 1 but starting to take advantage of new features. And lately we've been rev'ing it almost every day.

Re: Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

My first site built in Sandox 1.68 and then imported to Sandvox 2.03:

Feedbackakademin.se/

..then I am translating it to english (some work to do):

feedbackacademy.eu/

I am using the BlueBall Design Gravity (love it and are hoping I will see more features if the decide to upgrade that themes).

Before I hade the site in iWeb (it looked messy and was a total failure in a SEO-perspective). I have to say iWeb is more or less useless if you want to be found with google/bing and such.
In sweden the site was always 100+ when searching for the word Feedback in Google.

After I changed to SEO-friendly Sandvox and some tweeking/help, I am on first page (#6) when you search for Feedback in sweden.

So thank you guys at Karelia, you have done a great job!

Re: Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

I am a high school teacher teaching English second language and I’ve always had an internet site for my students. I used Golive which gave me great freedom and was very powerful but was also very labour intensive especially when updating frequently. I then switched to iWeb because of its ease of use and the fact that it was easy to build nice sites rapidly. The fact that google could not find it was not really a problem for me since my students all know where to find it. What really did in using iWeb was the fact that the School Commission changed its servers and iWeb could no longer upload to my server space. (The irony of it is that they changed for Apple servers.) Thus I had to find a solution, I finally used my Me.com account but that is not really what I wanted. I tried RapidWeaver with the same results, would upload once then bomb when trying to upload again. Finally I tried Sandvox and it worked, I could upload with no problem and everything worked.  In my case I find that iWeb is more flexible when it comes to laying out the site (ex: each page can use its own template but Sandvox has a work around that isn’t too onerous). Sandvox, on the other hand, has some more powerful features such as the contact page or object, the scroll down hierarchical menus, putting other web pages inside of one of your site pages etc. and of course the fact that I can finally upload to the school server.
The site is new since I had just started it using 1.6.8 and experimenting with the program when SV 2 came out. I transferred to v2 and all went pretty well except for the photo section which wouldn’t upload correctly so I just separated it from the main site and all went well.
Here is the site:

That's strange. It should be there, unless the automated process the site for some reason. Would you mind dropping a line to Karelia Support with the URL you submitted so we can track down what's happening. sandvoxsites.com isn't something I wrote the back-end code for, so I'm not sure what's going on. Karelia Support will direct it to the right person.

PS. My sites are designed in Sandvox 1.x

It looks like Susanne's (11 MystiCS) design ported over to SV2. Did you have any problems with it?

Re: Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

My site contains podcast interviews with public officials in the state of Maine, including the governor, treasurer, and "movers & shakers".

It also contains close to 1,000 photographs of northern Maine.

NorthOfBangor.com

I had put it up in the old version, but it was so much spaghettios in redone and imported code that I redid it all yesterday.

MUCH easier than the old version of Sandvox!

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Re: Got any cool sites built with Sandvox you'd like to share?

Hi all,
My three class sites are now ported over to SV2 and I really like the flexibility.

Here they are:
http://web.me.com/cdresel/socialstudies7/
http://web.me.com/cdresel/socialstudies8/
http://web.me.com/cdresel/geography/

One great new feature of SV2 is the 3rd party plug in potential. Check out this page made with the Accordian plug in. It allowed me to match the theme colors in the design, pretty slick:

Very nice educational site... I am also a teacher and slowly redoing my English Second Language site for my students. I especially liked the preview using the accordion plugin. I’ll have to look into it. :o)

Next day: I finally got the accordion plug in and used it to make a chapter by chapter synopsis for Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde that my students study in ESL. Great plug-in I’ll have to find other uses for it. I also used JavaHotpotatoes (it’s free from the U of Victoria) to make interactive vocabulary tests and questionnaires which I integrated into my pages using an external page object. It works like a charm.

Just finished this up with Sandvox 2.0.5. I haven't done anything 'too fancy', but have links to audio files, video (YouTube clips), PDF's, etc.

I use the available Media 5 plugin for the audio, and used the built-in Media Player for the videos.

Thanks Joseph,
I also had problems with the width and the way it looks. My wife picked up on that right away. Any suggestions on where to get the premium themes? I am running Sandvox 2.0, are there any preloaded?
Thanks,

This is one of my sites.   http://www.boeing-747.com/.  I actually have about 22 other aviation sites all built with Sandvox.  I've converted most of them to Sandvox 2.0 but haven't taken advantage of the new features or some of the new plugins that are starting to show up.

I'm an aviation nut, so I definitely think this is a cool site! Visited the 747-8 and 787 assembly lines on the Boeing plant tour a couple of years ago... going to have to check out the rest of the sites!

Hi ZvonimirP,

Nice websites.
Wat do you used for the picture slideshow on the homepage of http://www.apartmaninedadrage.com?
How do you put the slider in Sandvox?

Thanks, Steven

Hi Steven

The program is WOW Slider (http://www.wowslider.com/) and the program is available 11 templates from 11 transition effects. Intended for the home page and is very easy to integrate into website.

From the same company uses the program VisualLightBox (http://visuallightbox.com/) for Photo Gallery - example: http://www.apartmaninedadrage.com/engli … hotos.html

Thanks, Zvonimir
