Free download - how many pages?

Hi, I have downloaded the free copy of Sandvox, and one of the pages in the left-hand menu has grey and white diagonal stripes across it - is this because it is the 6th page  - I seem to remember the free download allows 5 or so pages?  Is there a limit?  Can anyone help please?

That's correct.  Gray stripes across the whole row in the Site Navigator mean that that page won't be published.  The demo version of Sandvox will only publish the first 5 pages of your site. Other than that, all features are active. Purchasing a license unlocks that.

I also worked with demo for a while and created 7 pages 2 with grey stripes. Only 5 pages appeared in the Navigation menu.
Decided I wanted to buy - purchased within the application - (automatically registered) did as suggested - quit then restarted Sandvox. Result 2 pages beyond the limit of the demo page numbers no longer had grey stripes - unfortunately the 6 and 7th page did not appear in the navigation menu.

tried deleting the 2 extra pages then recreating - still no luck. De-registered and re-registered - still no luck.

Is there a limit to the number of items in the navigation menu (which is a horizontal one under the title banner.)?

I should allow Terrence to report, he'll be more precise… but the answer, to my knowledge, is YES, there is a limit, perhaps depending on the 'design' you have chosen.  However, with my design I'm getting at least 6 horizontally.  I'm not sure that's the limit but if it isn't it's certainly no more than 7. 

In the end I found this somewhat 'beneficial' to me in site design and user interface… that doesn't mean it's that way for you, but it was for me.  I re-thought my site and discovered that I could provide a more intuitive interface for my visitors than my original (in my mind), design would have provided. 

Not saying users should not have 'more' navigation menu's than Sandvox provides in their designs… just saying that 'rethinking' the navigation within their design limits and thereby 'cleaning' up your main menu does work… for many anyway. - JamesJM

Does Sandvox or another vendor associated with Sandvox have any tools that can add more pages horizontally? I purchased Sandvox since I was under the impression that with the registered copy I would be able to at least add 7 to 8 pages across horizontally beyond the 5 page limit.When I talk about adding 7 to 8 pages I mean in addition to the Home page. If there is no provision at this time for adding more pages horizontally, can they be added using HTML code. If they can be added using HTML code, where can I go to learn how to do this?

Do you mean the number of navigation tab items allowed? No problem in having more than five. Here's one with eight, but you can have more if you wish:

Thanks macdafydd for your response! The designs that came with Sandvox are allowing me to create only 6 navigation tabs total.Is the design you posted above a custom design? Where in the software can I see this design? If I had a navigation bar as shown above I'd be a happy camper! Member nevilleh (above) and member JamesJM (above), both alluded to the same issue I am referring to. Terrance, if you could clarify this issue it would be greatly appreciated. I am more than positive new users of Sandvox are going to encounter this issue when they try to create a website that has more than 6 navigation tabs or pages. No, it's Aurora Palace, one of the standard designs. Plenty of other standard designs allow for numerous tab headers: Cathedral and Night Breeze come to mind, as I have used these. Indeed, I have never come across a restriction in number of tab headers. It is, however, so, that you must sometimes specifically request the inclusion of a page in the tab menu bar: this is done through the Page Inspector, where, under the Page tab, the Menu as: item must be checked. That seems to have been nevilleh's problem. If some designs impose a limit, then I am sure that the designer had a reason for that. Indeed, too many tabs headers can lead to confusion, and a design rethink might then be a better option.

Thanks macdafydd! Now I see as the blind man stated. The process is click the inspector>then click the page tab>then look for menu as: and there input check mark> then the page shows up in the navigation bar as an additional page. The Software allows about 5 to 6 pages to show up automatically in the navigation bar and if you want more you have to do the extra manual step of the process I describe above.
