paypal buttons

Hi can anyone give step by step instructions as to how to put workable Paypal 'buy' buttons next to product listings on my new website.  I understand what to do from the Paypal side regarding making the code but I'm not sure what to do after that from the Sandvox side.  The rest of the website building is clear to me but I'm in the dark here!

As a newbie myself, it is very disappointing that you have not received any support.

Re: paypal buttons

To add your paypal button to Sandvox you would take the code from paypal and paste it into to a raw HTML object in Sandvox.
I did look at the cart system that wic just posted. That looks like it is for Rapidweaver.

Re: paypal buttons

I cannot enter the PayPal code after pressing the raw data button, nothing shows up, can you actually put a paypal button the Sandvox site? If not I have wasted time and money on this, I need an idiots guide to doing it. Dead simple on iweb, now a huge problem, please help,

Follow the instructions I have placed at http://www.karelia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1439 (a few entries down the discussion).

Re: paypal buttons

Still does not make sense, I have a question mark in a box and no button is this right? Does not like the PayPal HTML, then tidies it up and and then I open that inspector and edit. All very confusing, can I please have a a) b) c) as to inserting the code. Raw HTML, do I need to bother with that or not? Sorry nothing logical about adding the code.

Re: paypal buttons

Your explanation is unclear. Where is the "question-mark in a box"? Do you mean in the Sandvox preview or in the published site? It would make sense in the preview, as I suspect that the code you received from PayPal contains a link to a graphic on its own site and this will not be loaded. I have just created the code for a button in PayPal, copied it, and inserted it as Raw HTML into a Sandvox test site, just as described. In the Sandvox preview, I see a warning that the HTML is invalid. No reason to panic at that, as PayPal code (as with most generated code of that type) often contains less than standard HTML. I published the site locally, using the Export option and then opened that site in Safari. The PayPal button was there in all its glory.

Adding code is logical (and can be a powerful feature); the code you get to add might be less than perfect.

Re: paypal buttons

Thank you for that, I found that going to preferences and turning the internet on helped although I am confused as to how I am getting the button, but RAW HTML still shows up as text on the page, is that right. Thank you for your help as this is making more sense to me now. Dunder

Re: paypal buttons

No, you are doing something very wrong if Raw HTML shows up as text. When you insert a Raw HTML object, the Edit HTML window appears, and it is in that window that you must paste the code from PayPal (replacing [[Raw HTML]]). Then close the Edit HTML window and that's it. If for some reason, you do not see the Edit HTML window, then select the Raw HTML object and then select menu item Edit>Edit Raw HTML.
