Hello,
I have successfully replaced the default (Glass Box) banner on my Home Page with an image of my choice. However, the cropped version that appears on subsequent pages looks odd (too much of image cropped for it to be recognizable). Is it possible to select a different image that would apply to all pages other than the Home Page? (If so, I would opt for a non-Home Page image that works well within the more limited space.)
I've read a related question (broader, as it referred to mixing-and-matching entire templates, rather than just changing banners), and the solution was to create multiple (sub)sites. I don't have the savvy to embark on something like this, so would just like to know whether the above is possible within a single site.
Thanks very much.

Glass Box is one of the older designs and did not originally support banner replacement. I don't believe there is a way to change the banner images on subsequent pages without hacking the design itself.

... the solution was to create multiple (sub)sites.
I would also like to have different banners for different pages on a site!
Do you mean that we have to create one different sandvox document for each such page?
If so, this is definitely a feature I'd like to see in the future.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, currently, if you change the banner for a design you change it for all pages in the site (document).
There is some internal work already within Sandvox and version 2 having the concept of master pages that could hold a different banner for each master, but this is something that we're working on and have not yet pushed out. I can't say when it will be ready, but it is something we are working on.

Hi--I'm very new to Sandvox(like this week)--just making the move from iWeb. I, too, would like to be able to have a different banner on each page. Any word on when this change may be available? Thanks!

I have the same issue - I link to a graphic, but it's the wrong size inside the Sandvox application.
So I need to know how to resize it or what dimensions and/or pixel size I need to have in order to have the graphic show correctly.

In Sandvox, click the Help menu, select Sandvox Help, click on "Look up topics easily," and then click on, would you believe, "Banner."
It says "Avenger," but I am just a Sandvox user who has been assigned the title of Avenger here in order to be able to delete spam messages. http://davidneale.eu/

Any news on the "Different Banner on different pages" yet?

I, too, would like to have the ability to have a banner photo on the main page, but not on subsequent pages. I'm currently using "Outside The Lines" and the banner photo looks great on the first page, but many of my subsequent pages have photos in them and, in those cases, the banner photo is too overwhelming. This ability would be a welcome addition.

A question about banners.
I am using the Serengeti theme, which allows banner substitution. I wish to substitute the original banner with a simple one-colour background. Producing the image for the background is OK, but when inserted it displays with large white borders. How do I get the inserted image to fill the space taken by the original theme banner?
Ironically the original theme banner has been stretched to fit!

Sizes of banners for different designs are given in http://www.karelia.com/sandvox/help/z/Banner.html

That fixed it; some problems getting the resized replacement banner image to replace the first version, but all OK now. Thanks

Another problem has arisen with my banner, using Serengeti theme.
The Home page has now been set up OK, with my own image fill. I have added my logo. No Tagline. Site Title consists of two lines same font but different sizes. This appears as I want in Home page, but all other pages wrap Site Title text differently. How can I get consistent appearance?

And the URL is…?

Have you added any coding? Did you copy and paste text? Did you do anything else to affect the title text?

No coding added. No copy and paste text, but font changed to Helvetica Neue Bold 42 top line Helvetica Neue Bold 14 lower line.

Something like this, then:
Home page:
Other page:

How did you make the second line? Did you add just keep typing until a line-feed occurred, or did you force the line? Can you provide a partial screen shot,a t least, so that the amount of text can be seen?

I have now sorted it out. Same banner appearance on all pages. It seems that the way you set up the Home page text is critical to getting consistency as implied in earlier posts. I experimented to get it right; not sure I can express 'how to do it', but it's done.
I tried to add some images here, but the instructions on how to do so are gobble-de-gook to me. Ironically just the sort of stuff that I'm using Sandvox to avoid. :)

A couple more issues:
1. Same banner apparent on all pages, but when mousing over banner text on all pages except Home, shadowed area appears.
2. When submitting completed email form (Contact page), acknowledgement page flashes up, but banner text reverts to original Serengeti same-size font.
This website is now live, and in basic skeleton form at http://www.quainton-road-models.co.uk
Are these effects visible to others out there? Can they be eliminated?

Same issues noticed when I visited your site.
I'd still like to know how you entered the text for the title.
I imagine that both problems can be resolved. Will take a look tomorrow, if I have time.

I have started a new site, again using Serengeti. In Sandvox, site opens with default text/font on Home page. I do not alter anything. Mouseover text areas shows text box as expected for Site Title and Tagline. Add another page. Mouseover text shows shadowed area (not aligned with text box) behind Site Title but not behind Tagline) which I don't use anyway. So it seems unrelated to how Home banner text is set up. However Site Title text appears to be drop shadowed, so could this be having an effect?

Hi David,
Using Site Code Injection try adding the css code below into the Style Sheets window and see if it does what you are asking for:
#title h1 {text-shadow: #000 0px;}
#title:hover a, #title a:hover {text-decoration:none; background:transparent;}
Let me know your results.
Best,
Charlie

In the Serengeti design, the elements of the banner (logo, text) of all pages, except the Home page (all the pages I've looked at, anyway), are linked to the Home page, so that if a user clicks in the banner, they are taken to the Home page. The "shadowing" you see is an indication of the link function. This is often (always?) the case with designs with banner heads. It used to be possible to deactivate this (I have done so in one of my sites, but that was a long time ago and I can't remember how!), so play around and you might find that you are still able to do so (if that's what you want, of course).
No idea why the original Serengeti banner apppears in the email confirmation page. This is not what happens in sites I have previously created, where I have changed the banner. Have you tried with other designs, just to test? If this is generally the case, it might be a bug and should be reported to Karelia.

Try this Page Code Injection:
<style type="text/css">
#title a:hover {text-decoration: none; background: none;}
</style>Add it as follows:
Edit>Page Code Injection…>Click on Head Area tab>copy and paste above code into lower panel.
Hopefully, it will remove the "shadowing" (which is defined in the CSS for Serengeti).
I guarantee nothing!
