I am developing a web site for my photography. I have a home page with text and one photo and several subcategory pages like Landscapes, etc. with 16 to 20 photos.
Is it possible to make the page wider. If so, where.
Can I resize the gallery photos to make the thumbnail images larger and possibly fewer on a row?
When I drag and drop an image into a gallery, what resizing is performed by SandVox
Thanks

The width of a page is an attribute of the design selected. I believe there are some designs that are rather wider than others. Third-party designs offer more scope, so I understand.
Gallery thumbnail sizes are also design-specified. I imagine that some careful CSS could be used to resize thumbnails, but that could be problematic.
To see just what Sandvox does to your images, take a look at the package contents of the .sandvox file produced for your site. Be careful not to erase anything, or change the name of anything, or change the contents in any way, or you might break the site file, but you might find it interesting to see your images and the other files that Sandvox uses. The .sandvox package contains the elements that Sandvox uses when creating your website, so you can compare its contents with those of the website itself, either on your host or, more conveniently, by publishing the site locally and comparing the two there.

Thanks for the response. When you say "third-party design" are you referred to third-party templates?
Does Sandvox enlarge the thumbnails to any specific size? It seems I read 2000 pixel somewhere.
Can you suggest a common typeface to use. I want something interesting like Cambria
How can I edit the photo thumbnail titles?

Yes, templates, if you will. In Sandvox, the convention is to refer to templates as designs.
I assume there is a default size per design for each displayed image. You can, in any case, adjust the size of the "enlarged" image, either through the settings in the Metrics Inspector, or by simply dragging the handles of the selected image.
Typeface preference is very personal. You must, of course, take display capabilities into account as well when selecting a typeface. See http://www.codestyle.org/css/font-famil … ults.shtml for a list of cross-platform typefaces.
The easiest way to edit a thumbnail title is to do so in the left-hand navigation column.

Thanks, great information. More questions:
1. Where do you access third-party designs?
2. Can the selected design name be viewed in Inspector or elsewhere. I keep forgetting the one I selected.
3. On a photo page, can you click a thumbnail and enlarge a single image instead of the slideshow. And can you have the option of either single image or slideshow?

1. I do not use third-party designs, but I should think they are linked to from Karelia's own site.
2. Sometimes you can see the design currently used by clicking on the Design icon in the toolbar and finding the design highlighted in some way. This does not always work, however, so you can also look at the raw HTML, using, for example, the menu Develop>Web View>HTML Source (note that you need to turn the Develop menu on in Preferences if you don't see it). The design used is specified near the top of the HTML code for each page. Here's what the spec for the Cathedral design looks like:
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../sandvox_Cathedral/main.css" title="Cathedral" />
3. A slideshow is shown in the page type Slideshow and an image is shown in the page type Photo/video. In both page types, the size of the graphic element can be changed.

In regard to #3, where do I find page type? I cannot find it in Inspector. And, I assume from your answer that a page can be either a Slideshow or a Photo/Video but not both. Am I correct?

A slideshow can consist of a single image, but, specifically, the type of page you place in a site is indicated by clicking the New icon in the toolbar, or by using the menu item Insert>New Page>whatever…
You should play around with Sandvox before trying to build a final site. See what the possibilities are; explore the various icons, options, and panels. The Sandvox Help is generally very good for answering many questions, but nothing can beat actually trying anf failing.

It would be very helpful if there were a short description of the types of designs - especially the size they appear on the web (The width of the page) I know you can experiment before building a final site - but more information about the designs would be very helpful.

Jeni,
Blueball designs (http://www.sandvoxdesigns.blueballdesign.com/) is a third-party provider of Sandvox designs---and all that information is listed in the description at their web page. I agree that it would be great for the inspector to have a 'summary of design' tab so that you could see those things for yourself!

I agree on that!
