SEO Book First, we’re giving you a very nice eBook by Brad Callen called “Search Engine Optimization Made Easy.” This is an excellent guide, and we’ve gotten permission to give you a copy of it! We’ve been focused on making sure your Sandvox-created websites are easy for search engines to find, but there’s still a little effort needed on your part to get the job done. We know Brad Callen’s eBook has some good insights and we hope you can apply them to your own Sandvox website.

Affiliate Program Preview

We’ve sold a lot of copies of Sandvox thanks to you and your recommendations. Word of mouth is a powerful way to find new customers, as those of you who have your own business know all too well.

However, we realize that many people who receive our newsletter need to make a living by setting up colleagues with software. And there are probably a number of entrepreneurs interested in making an additional stream of income by getting the word out about quality software products.

That’s exactly why we’re in the process of developing an affiliate program. We want to build an “army” of enthusiastic Sandvox fans who will help us get the word out to people who are missing out on the many benefits Sandvox offers. We hope you’ll participate — perhaps passively, through a simple link back to Karelia on your website, or hopefully more actively, reaching out to your associates through your blog or email list, or even in person.

And of course we’ll pay a generous commission on every sale of Sandvox (or our future products) you generate for us.

We’ll be setting up a pilot program for affiliates very soon, so if you’re interested in becoming an affiliate, please click on this link, so we can get an idea of how many people are interested, and so we can invite you to be one of the first members — with a special commission rate. (Of course, you’re not under any obligation by clicking on this link; we’re just building up a list of those who are interested.)

New “Big Time” Design from SWD

Each month we like to spotlight the new designs that have been released by the many third-party designers around the world. This month, Sandvox Web Designs (SWD for short) has released “Big Time,” inspired by one of the large news websites. It features six different color variations. Gary Byrd of SWD writes:

I wanted the “Big Time” design to be a clean design that could be used by businesses or corporations but also a design that could be used by non-profit sites, family sites or personal sites.

Sandvox Websites of the Month

This is the latest in our new monthly feature for our newsletter, spotlighting a few Sandvox-created websites that we think show off the application’s features well. We hope these examples will give you some inspiration for your own Sandvox site!

If you would like to have your website considered for our Websites of the Month spotlight, just choose “Submit to Site Directory...” from the Site menu in Sandvox, and fill out the details about your site (or sites). Doing so will get your website listed on SandvoxSites.com, and we may choose to feature your site in a future mailing of our newsletter.

Gerard Rebours of Paris, France, used Sandvox to build his website “L’Eclat des Muses — Cie Christine Bayle” for this baroque dance and music company. He started with the built-in “Imagine” design, and added in a distinctive banner with a photograph and title incorporated into the image. The website features text pages profiling the dance company’s director, dancers, choreographers, and musicians; photo albums of the group’s performances; video excerpts; schedules; and a contact form (with prompts in both English and French).

UK-based Children’s author Simon Cheshire built his personal website with Sandvox, choosing it after reading a comparison of several website builders in a magazine. Not only is it an interesting site, it makes use of a lot of Sandvox features: Links to his books on Amazon.co.uk, an embedded External Page (to link to books on the US-based amazon.com store), several text pages with embedded images, a collection of pages describing his books and another with sample downloadable chapters (indexed by a photo album of his book covers — very clever!), a spam-preventing contact form, and embedded videos. We especially like the minimal look he achieves by putting a single photograph in the sidebar on some pages.

Congratulations to this month’s featured websites!

See you in the Sandvox!
