WWDC Wrap-Up

Last week, the entire Karelia development team took a break from our normal routine to attend Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). This is Apple's annual big event for its developers, where we get a peek at Apple's plans for their operating system, learn new technologies, and schmooze with other developers and Apple engineers. It was great to get some one-on-one time with members of the Core Data, QuickTime, and WebKit teams to solve some particularly tricky issues. Without (hopefully) violating our NDA, there are some major improvements in Leopard and Xcode 3 that we can take advantage of today to debug Sandvox while still deploying the application for Tiger. We are excited! It was also a great time to step back and be inspired by Apple's forthcoming "Leopard" technologies and then brainstorm new ideas for Sandvox and even future products (working hard to stay out of Apple's way of course).

karelia-wwdc2006The conference was a first for us: the first time that the three engineers working on Sandvox were actually in the same place at the same time. We commemorated that with a photo next to a gigantic new MacPro.

Of course, now we're all back in our distributed offices again, hard at work on version 1.0.5 of Sandvox and beyond….
